Seoul, South Korea: Participating in the Seoul Tech Impact Hackathon 2023 was an experience that transcended my expectations. As part of an incredibly talented team, I witnessed firsthand the fusion of innovation, teamwork, and a shared vision coming to life. Our project, Pocha, a groundbreaking geolocation app, emerged as the winner, marking a significant milestone in our journey to make a difference.

The Birth of Pocha
#

Our vision for Pocha was clear from the start. We aimed to create an app that would bring visibility to small businesses without traditional street addresses, focusing particularly on the vibrant street food culture of Korea. This idea was not just about technology; it was about preserving culture and supporting local communities.

The Hackathon Journey

The hackathon, hosted by Lunit Global, was an intense, inspiring, and enriching experience. Teams from various backgrounds came together, each working tirelessly through the night, crafting solutions that could potentially impact society positively.

The commitment and enthusiasm of the event organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and staff created an environment that fueled our creativity and passion. The office space provided by Lunit Global became our arena of innovation, where ideas met execution.

Teamwork and Triumph
#

I am incredibly proud of my teammates - Sharon Levy, Jonothan Sue, Jared Lynskey, and Tiaan van der Riel. Each brought unique skills and perspectives, making our collaboration seamless and effective. Our diverse expertise and unified goal were the key ingredients in developing Pocha.

Our project stood out for its innovative approach to a common urban challenge. We believed that by simplifying the process of locating street food vendors, we could create a platform that benefits both vendors and consumers, thereby supporting local economies.

This journey has been more than just developing an app; it has been a learning curve, a platform for growth, and a testament to what can be achieved when diverse minds come together for a common cause. The Seoul Tech Impact Hackathon 2023 was not just a competition; it was a celebration of creativity, innovation, and the human spirit.

As I look forward to the release of Pocha and the impact it will have, I am reminded of the power of collaboration, the importance of vision, and the endless possibilities that technology holds in bridging gaps and building communities.
